Sustainability at Climate Explorers

Our company’s commitments to creating a more sustainable, healthy and inclusive future!

Our first annual Sustainability Report highlights our progress and goals within the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.

Policies & Programs

Environmental

As a B Corporation, we have committed to adopting sustainable practices, report on those practices, and track them over time. We have designed and maintained our operations remotely in order to reduce Climate Explorers environmental impact and have implemented several programs in the areas of video conferencing, workplace flexibility, recycling, and energy conservation that get the job done while using and re-using resources at the most efficient level possible. Remote access to applications, programs, data, and collaboration tools has reduced environmental cost associated with commuting, office space usage, and team travel. We've achieved carbon neutrality for Scope 1, 2 and 3 through green energy tariffs and Gold Standard certified carbon offsetting schemes. As we prepare to set science based emissions reduction targets, we have continued to offset aspects of our Scope 3 emissions. This year, we offset 36.2 metric tons of emissions to cover all of our transportation and remote working by purchasing and investing in the nature-based and renewable energy projects.

Social

Company culture and investing in our people are not only HR priorities at Climate Explorers, they are core business priorities. We see it as our responsibility to build and scale a culture that helps people do their best work, and is above all, inclusive. We’re also passionate about helping our global communities grow better. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DI&B) is another core part of our mission. Climate Explorers stakeholders, volunteers and supporters are diverse in their backgrounds, experiences, and needs, and to help them grow better, we need to build a company that is reflective of that diversity. We have incorporated DI&B into our policies and practices, education and events.

Governance

Two key policies help us drive forward our sustainable governance practices: (1) our Code of Conduct, which include human rights, applies to all of our employees, volunteers, and directors and highlights that everything we do at Climate Explorers will be, and should be, measured against the highest possible standards of ethical business conduct, and (2) our Equal Opportunity & Ethics Policy, which outlines Climate Explorers position on fundamental equal opportunity. We also believe privacy and data protection are the foundation for trust. Accordingly, we support the roll-out of privacy and data protection laws around the world. We also build privacy-enhancing features into our website. Finally, the Governance, Nominating and IT Committee, People and Talent Committee and Sustainability Committee of our Board of Directors is responsible for, and has oversight over, Climate Explorer's ESG efforts under its committee charter.
