ECO Adventures

GUILT-FREE, OUTDOOR LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR EVERYONE

Have you ever had a moment in nature that makes you pause and appreciate what you're seeing, and where you are?

It could have been in a local park, on a hiking trail or a small moment of connection at a green space. It could have been triggered by the sound of birds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, or just a beautiful sunny day.

And then, we remember the guilt.

You remember everything you’ve read in the news on the climate crisis. Protests. Plastic. Deadlines for getting our act together.

The guilt interrupts this moment you’re having. It makes you feel like you haven’t done enough. Did I use any plastic today? Do I recycle properly? What am I doing wrong?

We ask: how can we make enjoying nature a positive impact activity?

In this blog, we will explore eco-adventures – guilt-free and sustainable ways to enjoy nature while making a positive impact on the environment.

Let's dive in and discover how you can become an eco-adventurer....

What exactly are Eco Adventures?

Climate Explorers have been conducting eco-adventures since 2020, and we want more people to learn and go on one of their own. In fact, we’re on a mission to have 10,000 people in the UK go on an eco-adventure. We describe Eco Adventures as educating audiences about the relationship between adventurous activity and environmental responsibility. Watch the video from our Pedal 4 Parks project.

How it works -

1. Find a local community project near you. This could be about restoring green spaces, campaigning to produce behavioural change, developing more sustainable commuting, producing products and food locally, providing services to people affected by climate change, creating wealth from waste. (Talk to us if you want to find a project near you)

2. Now create a fun way to get to that project. You can walk, hike, bike, skateboard – there are so many options to pick from. The only rules are that it needs to be green, not create waste, and should also be fun.

3. Make it exciting by aiming for a particular target time, or invite friends and do a challenge together. That’s it, those are the only rules that matter.

No eco-adventure is too small or too big. You don’t have to embark on a grand expedition to make a difference. Even small-scale eco-adventures can have a significant impact on the environment and your personal growth.

Why Eco Adventures

We need nature. Not just for our own survival, but for our own mental health. Eco-adventures are a way to focus on positive change by getting involved in your local community, rather than get sucked into the negativity that surrounds this topic.

So, embrace your inner eco-adventurer and embark on a journey of discovery, learning, and personal growth. Happy adventuring!

DON'T FORGET TO LISTEN TO
OUR 'CLIMATE HEROES' PODCAST.

Each episode will feature a new pioneer of unique climate solutions. We want to change the narrative on the climate crisis, and hear positive stories of people engaged in scalable and inspiring projects to protect our planet.
