In summer 2021, we cycled from the Orkney Islands to the Isles of Scilly over both land AND sea, covering over 1200 miles and ascending over twice the height of Everest!
During our two-week expedition, we interviewed 25 different companies, organisations, and non-profits all working very hard on ecological conservation, local community action and sustainability projects.
Our short 30-minute documentary tracks our journey of learning and discovery across the UK, showcasing several of the insightful interviews we conducted with experts in the environmental and sustainability space.
It has had a great reception so far, being screened at the COP26 Climate Change Conference in the Glasgow, as well as the famous Kendal Mountain Festival.
Despite lacking the obvious beauty and charisma of the world’s forests, peatlands are just as important. They store at least twice as much carbon, even though just 3% of the global land surface is covered by peat. 10% of the UK is covered by peatland, and our wetland habitats support biodiversity and provide habitat for rare species of plants and animals. So why are we failing to protect these vital greenspaces?
In this short documentary, journalist Joe Buncle investigates the power of peat, and speaks to people who are fighting against the destruction of one of our most valuable and surprising natural resources.
